Surfing is a sport . Its a way of life. If you can't be a sportsman with sportsmanship being important then you shouldn't adopt this way of life. Plenty of payback occurs much later when in the parking lot or some other place. I learned to go surfing at night and I sacrificed so much to surf remote waves so I could be alone or with a few friends and I invented ways to make my equipment last a long time and I made all my own equipment. Surfing isn't everything ~ It's the ONLY thing. Beware the patient men who just want to be left alone. You are watched.

I've chased people like that off the beach years ago full size men being dominant and harassing young groms I got a reputation to where some of these kooks broke into my van when I was out

You can just barely make out that he’s sitting on his shoulders at the end. I don’t think he was held under for 30 seconds but was in a choke — probably bobbing in and out of water.
I know a lot of those Malibu surfers know jiu jitsu , especially the thin ones.
Very dangerous behavior. You keep picking fights, you’re eventually gonna get what’s coming to you.

That's called regulating. Dude dropped in, didn't get off then got pushed off. Deservedly so. Goes after the guy who pushed him and got further "Regulated" Maybe he'll think twice before burning a guy, regardless of the size of the surf, it's still equally shitty.
Laird once told me when I was a bartender at Turtle Bay that a guy will fight over a 2’ wave but that same guy will give you a 30’ wave every time.
I always laugh at people getting all serious in 3 foot surf… Trust Fund Babies chewing on each other. Let it happen..!!
Yeah this not even a great wave, its not like he caused this guy not to be able to do any manuevers but at the same time should have got off when he realized someone was behind him

There actually used to be locals at a little island on Florida's SW coast back in the 80's and anyone from down south or the east coast that tried to surf the place where dealt with uh…first with a verbal " beat it" and then it got physical . The waves never get bigger than head high on a good day…but there where about 15 locals that ruled that place. The waves suck there now anyways…but there's no more locals so when it does get decent….it's not a secret or guarded anymore ! It is called "Captiva island" and back in the day there where mini "dog bone" jetties every couple hundred yards and a secret rockpile hidden from the road in the middle between Blind pass and south seas called the "Nut hut" ! On the mornings after a cold front it would absolutely heave square 6' barreling peeling rights and short super heavy lefts ! Overhead barrels on a sandbar that came up from 15 foot deep to about knee deep in a hurry ! You either took off under the lip and got barreled….. or pounded worse than you ever have on a crushed seashell sandbar on a head high wave ! Lots of boards broken there until the army corps of engineers removed ALL the little jetties and rockpile that made the island the best kept surf secret from the 1970' through 1993 or so. Turned the best spots in the whole Gulf into shorebreak closeouts for 3 years before any kind of decent setups formed.

Not really worth fighting over but If inside guy was calling drop in guy off the wave and he was ignoring the call then I reckon inside has every right to push drop in guy off his wave. Drop in guy should’ve simply paddled out but he wanted a piece of action and it looks like he got what he asked for 🤜

None of those waves were worth fighting over. But stupidity does prevail in crowded lineups, and sometimes things have to be realigned.
