Want to see how much you can push your mid length surfboard surfing?
Well this glassy day surfing in Byron Bay was the perfect test ground for the 7’2 Midway Model from Cape Collective!
When it comes to riding a mid length surfboard you’d be surprised how versatile and fun they can be – and this day of shooting at one of the many Byron Bay surf beaches was the perfect example of what a mid length can handle.
From long walling rides to hitting some 12 o’clock snaps – Tom from Boards in The Bay showcases exactly why mid length surfboard surfing is not to be under estimated and why every surfer should have one in their quiver!
In fact the Midway model from Cape Collective is one of my favourite new boards and one of the best surfboards for intermediates out there!

Great video!
Do you recommend putting a traction pad on a mid length? I have a 7'6 pin tail shape with thruster set up and I am only 5'0. I've been trying to do a turn and I realized my back foot doesn't go over the fin setup. I wonder if the traction pad would help to drop my foot down? Or would that not help on a long board 😅 I see you have a traction pad on the blue board in this video
Hey mate
Nice video – do you think the 7'2" of these boards at 46 litres is duck divable? I'm 80kg.
Also, is that colour the baby blue??
Thank you!!
Stop using too much slow motion in your editing. It diminishes the speed of the sport and looks lame. I’ve been surfing 45 years, trust me. Put yourself in the position of someone paddling out in the channel, wide angle no effects. Be real with it.
Awesome video mate!
