The wave is 86 feet tall and was surfed by Sebastian Steudtner in Nazaré, Portugal.
The wave is not miles out to sea and actually a lot closer to the shore than one might think due to a massive canyon 3 times deeper than the Grand Canyon which splits the wave into two at the end closest to shore.
Im not gunna paddle to new Zealand!

This is probably a stupid question but I’m not a surfer so idc but why do the waves at nazare not seem to “barrel” like normal waves? Something to do with the size?
It’s like I’m stellar movie wave. It’s not wave, it’s mountain.
