I have used a CO2 cartridge underwater. Can I suggest you have an inflable vest made that can be filled from a small lightweight oxygen bottle or two, rather than a CO2 cartridge. It would need a mouthpiece / valve too, and if you used it via the inflatable bag, that would have to be kept mould free. Or some variant on that. It may not surface you thru the whitewater so fast, and harder to initiate when youre pinned down. But it could give you vital oxygen down there, and O2 is not toxic at the depth a surfer is taken to.
I met that last jet ski dude. Went to Nazare on a big wave day. The men are such sweethearts in portugal <3 these guys care so much about making sure everybody stays safe. I'd always wanted to see Nazare and wow. Nothing compares to those waves.
4:04 I never really liked reading "the sea boiled and foamed" in books because I never felt the sea actually boils, it just struck me as poor imagery, but WOW that's only because I've never seen it do boiling like this!
You can really see why it's described that way when you see water like this. The sea really looks like it's on a rolling boil!
If those waves weren't so insanely dangerous you'd think he was having fun in a bubble bath.
