After suffering a life-threatening fall on a strike mission in Morocco, Billy Kemper found himself living out every surfer’s nightmare. Stuck in a faraway hospital with a severely injured knee, hip, and pelvis, Billy’s only goal was to get back to his wife and four kids. The journey home would be more unpredictable and difficult than he could have ever imagined.

Wow, amazing props to WSL and his tribe of friends. You read about so many sports organizations that cut and run from their athletes every day. This is a standout that shows why surfers are unique. I’ve always found that because I surf, every time I travel I can meet new people that have amazing stories no matter where I am…as long as I don’t drop in on the wrong break 😂

You could get a private ambulance from Casablanca to Ceuta its a 4 1/2 hour drive and then you're technically in Spain and you can get heli lifted or ferried over to mainland Spain.

Question for professionals: why was he injured so hard on that spot? We can see wipeouts in Nazare with 5x bigger waves and it is ok… but here not so extreme wave, typical wipeout… Is it because bottom with rocks was very near water?
We Moroccans call that beach "Viper Head" for a reason. I hope Billy has recovered fully to surf another day.

Canadian health care is pretty good, if not better than the US. Should have stayed there and saved a few dollars.
