Briggs, you went a little heavy on Washington and as a result, missed one of the best small coastal towns in New England, Duxbury, Massachusetts. Look it up, you’ll love the place.
Another charming waterfront is Polsbo, Washington. Kinda like Anacortes the name was supposed to be spelled Paulsbo. Story has it that they applied to get a US Post Office. After what seemed like forever, the approval was granted but, on all of the paperwork the feds speled it wrong. Rather the endure the red tape of getting it corrected, it they just went with it.

Beaufort is the first place I experienced fire ants. There was a "moontide," and the tide came up into the streets(don't worry the city plans for this). To keep from being drowned, the fire ants headed to higher ground. Unfortunately, I was standing on higher ground watching ground watching this amazing natural phenomenon. My socks were so full of ants I couldn't even get them all out drowning them in the sink. I had to throw the socks away. Beautiful town!
